Rung Rings: Privacy Policy

Effective date: 4 October 2026 (applies to version 1.3 and later)

Rung Rings is a quiet puzzle game. It does not collect, send, sell or share any personal information about you. This page explains, in plain language, what that means in practice.

The short version

What the app stores, and where

Your progress. Which levels you have finished, your stars and points, which tutorials and story pages you have seen, and your Settings choices (sound, haptics, tutorials). This is saved in a small file on your device, inside the app's own storage. Deleting the app deletes it. "Reset progress" in Settings clears it.

iCloud sync (optional, handled by Apple). If you are signed in to iCloud on your device, the app also saves a copy of your progress in iCloud's key-value store, so that it can follow you to a new phone or restore after a reinstall. That copy lives on Apple's servers, under your own Apple Account. It is private to you. We, the developer, cannot read it, cannot see it and never receive it. The app does not make this connection itself: iOS does it in the background for any app that has the iCloud key-value capability. If you are signed out of iCloud, or have iCloud turned off for the app, the game works the same and keeps progress on the device only. Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in Apple's own privacy policy.

A local play log. The app writes a short text log of game events (for example "level 4 solved in 5 moves", or "hint used") to a file in the app's own folder on your device. It contains no name, no account, no device identifier and no free text. It is never uploaded, never leaves your device, and nothing in the app sends it anywhere. It exists to help while the game is being developed and tested. Deleting the app deletes the file.

What we never do

Links that open outside the app

Settings contains links to this privacy policy and to the support page. They open in your browser (Safari), outside the game. These pages are static web pages hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any website, the host may keep ordinary server logs of visits (such as your IP address) when you open them; that is governed by the host's own policy, not by the app, and the app itself sends nothing.

Information Apple may provide

If you have chosen to share crash reports and analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, or you install the game through TestFlight, Apple may make anonymised crash reports and usage statistics available to the developer. This is Apple's system, controlled by you in iOS Settings. It is not collected by the app.

Children

Rung Rings has no accounts, no chat, no ads, no purchases and no personal data collection, so it is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, this page will be updated first, the effective date above will change, and the App Store privacy details will be updated to match.
